The Hampton Public Library in sponsorship with the First Bank Hampton and Friends of the Library is offering for the first time a program called "1000 Books Before Kindergarten."  This program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents/custodial parents to regularly read aloud to their children.  By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000 book goal in three years.  The program is free of charge and is for children birth through five years of age.  Children receive a free book for every 200 books read and an HPL t-shirt when they reach their goal of 1,000 books. Parents can register their child(ren) in the children's department of the Library.
